Developers typically spend 40% of their time unit testing, debugging and reworking their code. If you could cut this by half, what sort of saving would that represent to your organisation? Because of the potential for savings, more and more attention is being paid to the automation of Developer Testing. If you would like to learn more, please consider accepting this invitation from Software Improvements, the Canberra based representative for Agitar Software.
Who: Anyone involved in the development of Java based Applications, management of projects involving Java development, or management of Application Development Environments for Java projects.
What: A briefing on Agitar's Agitator and Dashboard for developer testing of Java applications. Andrea Parsons, Business Development Manager for Software Improvements will present on the 3 generations of unit testing technology.
This will be followed by a demonstration of Version 2.6 of Agitar's solution, designed to help developers create thorough sets of reusable unit-tests by intelligently exercising Java code to discover its behaviour, and the presentation of results via the Agitar Management Dashboard. Version 2.6 also includes add-ins to Agitator that makes it "smarter" about specific development domains. This can range from simple automations for common patterns explicit to the Java code, to specific implicit automations for common frameworks such as J2EE, Struts, to implicit testing enhancements based on customer specific coding styles and business level requirements.
Why: Most Java developers currently do some sort of unit testing, but it is difficult, tedious, repetitive, unrewarding, and usually left unmaintained. Agitar continues to release exciting new technologies to support developer testing. Agitar provides a way of automating test creation and maintenance, and an effective way to focus test creation efforts and manage process. Kent Beck, inventor of eXtreme Programming, and the creator of JUnit is an Agitar Software Fellow. Agitar complements and extends JUnit functionality.
